[Polpol News] Gallup "Yoon's Approval Rating Slightly Drops to 25%... Han Dong-hoon Ranks 1st in People Power Party Leadership Suitability"

Gallup June 4th Week Public Opinion Poll Results
People Power Party 31%·Democratic Party 32%·Joguk Innovation Party 10%

President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration has slightly declined. Among the next People Power Party (PPP) leadership candidates, former Emergency Committee Chairman Han Dong-hoon had the highest support.


According to a Gallup poll released on the 28th (conducted from the 25th to the 27th via telephone interviews using mobile phones with 1,002 nationwide respondents aged 18 and older), President Yoon's approval rating dropped by 1 percentage point from the previous week to 25%. The disapproval rating rose by 2 percentage points to 66%. President Yoon's approval rating fell to 21% in the fifth week of May. It rebounded to 26% in the second week of June, but after recording 26% last week, it stood at 25% this time, showing a stagnation in recovery.


Gallup stated, "Currently, the response that 'he is doing well' was prominent only among People Power Party supporters (57%) and those aged 70 and above (52%)." They added, "Among conservative-leaning groups and residents of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, positive and negative opinions were similarly divided, while negative views prevailed among most other respondent characteristics."

Regarding the recently launched People Power Party leadership race, former Emergency Committee Chairman Han was found to be leading in the poll. Among all respondents, including supporters of other parties, Han received 28%, Rep. Na Kyung-won 19%, former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong 13%, and Rep. Yoon Sang-hyun 3%. Narrowing down to only People Power Party supporters, 55% supported Han, 19% supported Won, 14% supported Na, and 3% supported Yoon. When combining the opinions of People Power Party supporters and independents, which account for 20% of the leadership race results through the same polling method, Han received 38%, Won and Na each 15%, and Yoon 4%. Gallup described the race as "Han Dong-hoon versus non-Han Dong-hoon is a close contest at 38% to 34%."


Regarding the Special Prosecutor Act for Chae Sang-byung, 63% of respondents said it "should be introduced," while 26% said it "is not necessary."


In party support, the People Power Party fell by 1 percentage point to 31%, the Democratic Party rose by 4 percentage points to 32%, the Innovation Party for Justice increased by 1 percentage point to 10%, and the Reform New Party remained unchanged at 4%.
