Visiting the Memorials of the UK, Philippines, France, and South Africa
"Building the Best Warship, Now We Defend Ourselves"
Hanwha Ocean has been visiting monuments dedicated to countries that participated in the Korean War throughout June, taking time to pay tribute.
Hanwha Ocean (CEO and Vice Chairman Kwon Hyukwoong) announced on the 28th that, in commemoration of the 74th anniversary of the Korean War, it has been holding ceremonies to lay flowers at UN participating countries' monuments and express gratitude for the sacrifices and dedication of the war veterans.
The visitors paying tribute are employees from Hanwha Ocean's Special Ship Division, which is responsible for producing naval power such as warships. Marking the Month of Patriots and Veterans in June, these employees have visited monuments in participating countries such as the United Kingdom, the Philippines, France, South Africa, Turkiye, and Greece since the beginning of the month.
In small groups, the employees carried out cleaning activities such as removing weeds and tidying up around the monuments located throughout Gyeonggi Province, before taking time to pay their respects. In areas where soldiers from 16 UN countries fought fierce battles during the war, battle monuments have been erected to remember their help and dedication.
Hanwha Ocean employees especially made sure to hold flower-laying ceremonies at the monuments of countries like the United Kingdom and France, which dispatched not only aircraft carriers but also warships and naval forces.
Hanwha Ocean has built more than 40 surface ships and is the only company to have participated in all construction projects for the Korean KDX-I, II, and III destroyers. The company is also competing for orders in the Korean Next-Generation Destroyer (KDDX) project scheduled for construction this year, leveraging its top-level warship technology. Hanwha Ocean is making thorough preparations to secure the 'detailed design and lead ship construction' phase of the KDDX project in the second half of this year.
An official from Hanwha Ocean who participated in the memorial event said, "We pay tribute to the heroes who fought in the Korean War and protected the seas of Korea," and added, "Hanwha Ocean plans to continue activities to clean and pay respects at UN participating countries' battle monuments in the second half of this year as well."
