A German female model who underwent limb lengthening surgery, known as the 'height-increasing surgery,' twice has recently been discharged from the hospital. Model Terezia Fischer (32) posted on social media on the 23rd (local time), “Finally free! I have waited so long for this day,” sharing a photo of herself leaving the hospital in a wheelchair. She said, "Today is the day I removed the last 2% of my past from my body," adding, "The pain I endured for 8 years was indescribably immense. There are still many emotional hurdles to overcome, but now I have gained the strength to heal."

Fischer attracted attention last year when she confessed on the German version of the reality show ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ that she underwent two surgeries to lengthen her legs to 45 inches (about 114 cm). She had limb lengthening surgeries in 2016 and 2022, where her thigh and calf bones were cut and metal rods were inserted, spending 300,000 pounds (about 530 million KRW) on the surgeries alone. As a result, her height increased from 168 cm to 183 cm. On this day, she underwent the eighth and final surgery to remove the metal rods from her legs and returned home.
The reason Fischer underwent this difficult surgery is known to be due to her ex-husband’s insistence that he would love her for life if she lengthened her legs. She said, “At the time, I was 24 years old and deeply depressed. Back then, anyone could have done anything to me,” adding, “I threw myself into fulfilling his wish to lengthen my legs by 15 cm, having completely lost my confidence.”
Nevertheless, she expressed satisfaction, saying, "After the surgery, I became famous for my long legs, received more modeling offers, found a new boyfriend, and gained more followers." Fischer also lamented, "I am now satisfied and happy with my legs, but malicious comments continue on the internet." Fans are concerned, saying that Fischer’s legs look disproportionately long compared to her body and that the surgery should not have been encouraged.
Currently, she has difficulty moving without a wheelchair, but she plans to start modeling again once she can walk and build a family with her new partner.
Limb lengthening surgery is a procedure that artificially lengthens the arms and legs. Originally designed to treat patients with congenital or acquired limb deformities, it has evolved for cosmetic purposes. It has become a kind of plastic surgery to overcome height complexes. However, experts advise caution with the surgery as, in the worst cases, patients may become unable to walk.
