Kakao Selected as '2024 World's Leading Sustainable Company'

Kakao announced on the 28th that it has been selected as one of the 'World's Best Sustainable Leading Companies 2024' by the U.S. weekly magazine Time and data company Statista.

Among more than 5,000 companies evaluated, the top 500 companies were named in the World's Best Sustainable Leading Companies, which was revealed for the first time this year. Kakao ranked 272nd. In South Korea, 15 companies were included, and Kakao was the only one in the 'IT, Tech & Software' sector.

Time evaluated sustainability based on more than 20 key performance indicators related to sustainability and data disclosed by companies.

In particular, Kakao has been continuously engaged in various activities in the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) fields. It procures office electricity from renewable energy and builds eco-friendly data centers to respond to the climate crisis. Additionally, to provide stable services to users, Kakao publishes the 'Kakao Stability Report' and was the first in the industry to issue a 'Diversity Report.'

As a result of continuous efforts, Kakao has achieved the top 1% consecutively in the 'Corporate Sustainability Assessment' conducted by S&P Global. Furthermore, it has been included in the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability World Index) for three consecutive years. Based on its active response to climate change, Kakao received the highest grade, A, in the environmental evaluation related to carbon disclosure announced by the international environmental organization 'Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).'

Kwon Dae-yeol, Chair of Kakao CA Council's ESG Committee, stated, "We will continue efforts in various areas for sustainable growth," adding, "We plan to strengthen ESG management and fulfill our social responsibilities to remain a trustworthy company."
