As this summer is expected to experience extreme heat due to abnormal high temperatures, the cool breeze bath in Boryeong, Chungnam, which becomes cooler as it gets hotter, will open on the 28th.

Boryeong City announced that the Cheongra-myeon Cool Breeze Bath, where visitors can spend the hot summer coolly, will operate until August 18. The Cool Breeze Bath is located at 190, Cheongra-myeon Naengpungyokjang-gil.

The Cool Breeze Bath is a facility that utilizes the convection phenomenon where cold air coming from a coal mine tunnel extending hundreds of meters underground pushes out toward the hot air. Tourists can walk through a 200m simulated tunnel and feel the cold breeze rising from underground.

The interior of the Cool Breeze Bath maintains a nearly constant temperature of 10 to 15℃ year-round, and during spring and autumn when the inside and outside temperatures are similar, visitors hardly notice any difference. However, during the summer heatwave, the temperature difference between outside and inside can reach 10 to 20℃, making the hotter it gets outside, the cooler the Cool Breeze Bath feels.

Mayor Kim Dong-il said, “This summer’s heatwave is severe, so we expect many tourists to visit Boryeong. We will do our best to operate the Cool Breeze Bath so that visitors can enjoy it comfortably and coolly without any inconvenience.”
