Total 2,975 Participants: Following Resident Participation Eldercare Meals, One-Stop Birth Support Center Sunlight Center Ranks 2nd
Park Gang-su, Mapo-gu Mayor: "Reorganizing with the Initial Spirit of the 8th Term, Accelerating High-Quality Policies That Residents Can Feel"
As the eighth term of the Mapo District's elected government approaches its two-year anniversary, the policy most loved by residents was found to be the ‘Participation Meal Service for Residents Aged 75 and Over.’
Mapo District (Mayor Park Gang-su) conducted an online vote from the 7th to the 11th, allowing each voter to select up to three projects from 20 key pledges and current issues prioritized by the district, to choose the ‘Top 10 Policies of Mapo District’s 8th Elected Government.’
A total of 2,975 residents and staff participated in the vote, casting 8,924 votes in total. Among them, the ‘Participation Meal Service for Residents’ project received 805 votes, ranking first. Notably, this ‘Meal Service’ project was ranked second in the top 10 policies at the first anniversary of the 8th term last year and was selected as number one this year, solidifying its status as a flagship project of Mapo District.
As the first of its kind nationwide, the ‘Participation Meal Service for Residents’ initiated by Mapo District is a one-stop senior welfare service targeting residents aged 75 and older, providing high-quality lunch six days a week along with health, legal, and tax consultations. For seniors who did not visit, their well-being was checked through phone calls or visits, ensuring a tightly knit social safety net.
The district plans to increase the number of beneficiaries to 1,500 in the second half of the year, based on the ‘Meal Service Side Dish Factory,’ which can prepare food for about 1,000 people.
The second place was taken by the ‘Sunlight Center,’ which provides one-stop support from pregnancy to postpartum, and the ‘Cheokkeut Center,’ which offers individual services for unmarried mothers. The first and second places are noteworthy as proactive policies by Mapo District addressing the global issues of a super-aged society and ultra-low birth rates.
Ranked third was the ‘On-site Mayor’s Office,’ where the mayor personally rides a dedicated bus to visit sites and resolve local complaints and conflicts, prioritizing ‘prompt resolution of civil complaints,’ which is the main goal of the 8th term administration.
Following were ▲4th place, Gongdeok ‘Anyone Sports Center,’ ▲5th place, ‘Silppuri Welfare Center,’ ▲6th place, AI-based underground passage blocking system and transparent water barriers, ▲7th place, establishment of the ‘Red Road’ in Hongdae, ▲8th place, Mangwon Reservoir children’s sports facilities, ▲9th place, revitalization of Hapjeong-dong ‘Sky Path,’ and ▲10th place, ‘Meal and Lodging Senior Center’ project.
The district plans to reflect the policies loved and supported by Mapo residents in the district’s direction and goals to accelerate the implementation of more substantial policies.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, said, “Now that the 8th elected government is celebrating its two-year anniversary, it is time to tighten our shoelaces once again with the same spirit as when we first started.” He added, “We will continue to listen to the voices of Mapo residents on-site and discover and promote high-quality policies that residents can truly feel.”
