Since the outbreak of the Israel-Palestine war, the United States has provided Israel with support worth $6.5 billion (approximately 9 trillion won), the Washington Post (WP) reported on the 26th (local time), citing a senior U.S. official.
According to the report, the official disclosed the total amount of support provided to Israel so far, stating, "This is an enormous scale of assistance." The media analyzed that U.S. authorities had previously been reluctant to quantify and disclose the total amount of support given to Israel.
WP explained that the disclosed support amount was also discussed with Yoav Galant, Israel's Defense Minister, who recently visited the United States.
This discussion took place amid Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's complaints that U.S. weapons support has been continuously delayed. The White House rebutted Netanyahu's criticism as an "inaccurate assertion."
Meanwhile, it was reported that the U.S. and Israel also exchanged views on diplomatic measures to avoid a full-scale war between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah, and on the U.S. commitment to defend Israel should those measures fail.
