Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been carrying out the 'Hope Table Sharing Event' since April, delivering warm care to the local elderly.
This event is held for the elderly in one village per eup and myeon, and so far, four sessions have been successfully conducted.
The Hope Table Sharing Event is made possible by the voluntary participation of members of the Korea Life Improvement Gokseong-gun Association. The members take charge of everything from preparing ingredients to cooking, serving heartfelt meals to the elderly.
In particular, this event included a hands-on program where the elderly planted medicinal herbs in pots themselves, contributing to the improvement of their mental health in addition to providing meals.
An elderly participant from Singi Village, Gokseong-eup, who attended the event said, "I am very grateful to be served a meal prepared directly by the Life Improvement members," and added, "I hope such gatherings will be held frequently."
Lee Ji-sook, president of the Korea Life Improvement Gokseong-gun Association, said, "Despite the busy farming season, this time spent with the elderly is very meaningful," and added, "It is a precious opportunity to care for the health and well-being of the elderly."
Meanwhile, the Hope Table Sharing Event has been held four times so far and is scheduled to continue in the respective villages of each eup and myeon until October.
