2nd Anniversary of Inauguration, Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok Emphasizes "Incheon’s Takeoff and Citizens' Happiness"

'100 Million Plus i dream' Season 2... Housing Policies for Newlyweds
Key Projects Like Global Top Ten City and Jemulpo Renaissance Take Shape

Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok marked the 2nd anniversary of the 8th term of the elected government by unveiling plans for the second half of his administration, focusing on 'Incheon's Takeoff' and 'Citizen Happiness.'

At a press briefing held on the 29th, Mayor Yoo emphasized, "We will focus on policies that enhance the citizen happiness index in areas such as livelihood, welfare, culture, sports, and tourism, and deliver concrete results on key projects."

First, as part of the citizen happiness policy, the city plans to promote Season 2 of the Incheon-style low birthrate countermeasure, '100 Million Plus i Dream.'

Following the implementation of the 100 Million Plus i Dream program, which provides a total of 100 million KRW to every child born in Incheon until they turn 18, the plan includes establishing an Incheon-style housing policy for newlyweds. Additionally, comprehensive measures will be pursued to revitalize the low-income economy and secure competitiveness for small business owners, along with expanding job opportunities for the elderly in response to demographic changes.

Furthermore, the city will promote Citizen Safety and Empathy Welfare 2.0 by expanding integrated care for the disabled and increasing support for vulnerable youth groups such as reclusive loners and young caregivers.

Efforts will also be made to promote cultural enjoyment in daily life, as well as tourism and sports. Policies that citizens can tangibly feel include activating the Incheon Port Imagination Platform, a complex cultural space opening next month, creating the Sinpo-dong Creative Culture Street, attracting an international skating rink to Seo-gu, and expanding park golf courses.

To boost island tourism, the city plans to actively promote the 'Treasure Island Project,' referring to Incheon's 168 islands. Projects will be implemented to improve tourism and residents' living conditions, including support for residents of the five western islands, passenger ferry fares, maritime transport, and daily logistics costs.

Mayor Yoo promised to produce concrete results from key projects and swiftly advance the identified leading initiatives.

To fully execute the 'Global Top Ten City Incheon' project announced last May, the city will actively pursue large-scale investment attraction and promptly implement core leading projects presented in the master plan so that citizens can feel the impact.

The 'Global Top Ten City Incheon' project is a renamed version of the 'New Hong Kong City Project,' a key pledge of the 8th term, maintaining the original goals while expanding the target for investment attraction from Hong Kong-based companies to all domestic and international companies. The plan includes attracting global companies centered around the southern part of Ganghwa Island, Yeongjong, Cheongna, and Songdo.

Mayor Yoo also stated that the 'Jemulpo Renaissance' project will achieve concrete results through proactive compensation and early groundbreaking for the development around Dongincheon Station, and will reform the long-neglected old Songdo Amusement Park site development plan to create a groundbreaking turning point.

Additionally, the city will establish regional industrial clusters such as the bio-specialized complex, Incheon Robot Land, and the global aviation complex (MRO) to build Incheon as a future industry-friendly city, and plans to pursue a successful strategy for hosting the ongoing 'F1 Incheon Grand Prix.'

Mayor Yoo said, "During the 8th term, we opened the era of 'Incheon, a city of 10 million,' encompassing 3 million citizens and 7 million overseas Koreans. We will continuously run into the field to solve local issues, open the door to future dreams, and enhance citizen happiness by implementing administration for the people."
