Customer comes to the store to get a receipt for leaving a review
"If it's not allowed, just say so, why sigh?" review
The owner of a takeout-only cafe expressed frustration over unreasonable demands and reviews from a customer, sparking reactions from netizens. On the 27th, JTBC's Incident Commander reported on the recent experience of cafe owner A. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on the 24th. The cafe, operated by A, specializes in takeout, and as usual, received an order for an Americano that day. About 10 minutes later, customer B called, saying, "I can't get off the taxi midway," and requested, "Please leave the coffee on the main road."
The distance from the store to the main road was quite far, so A said, "I'm busy right now, so I can't." Then B insisted again, saying, "The taxi driver won't let me get off midway." Concerned that the coffee might be damaged, A left the coffee on a nearby bench instead of on the main road's ground. Meanwhile, B came directly to the store, paid, and took the receipt.
Netizens are reacting to a story about a packaging specialty cafe owner who became upset due to unreasonable demands and reviews from customers. The reason B, who said they couldn't get off the taxi, came to the store in person was to leave a 'review.' Through a portal site receipt review, B wrote, "I am displeased. Why do you sigh at customers? I ordered by phone because of a morning exam, and while taking a taxi, the driver said I couldn't get off to receive the coffee and get back in, so I asked if you could leave it on the main road," adding, "'Ah, I'm busy right now...' you immediately snapped. Can't I even ask? If I had insisted after you said no, that would be different."
They continued, "I thought it wouldn't be possible, so I asked. If not, I was going to get off, receive it, and run. I was so angry during the exam that I couldn't concentrate. I've been coming to this cafe for years, and now I regret it so much. I want to cancel all the promotions I've done for this place. Are you the same person who used to smile brightly when I bought a lot of cookies?" They vented their frustration. They also questioned, "Meanwhile, when I ran to pay at the kiosk, you sent a text with your account number asking me to transfer the money. Were you really that busy at 9 a.m. that you snapped at a customer?"
In response to the review, A replied, "We are not a drive-thru store. If you come by taxi, should I wait in front to hand it over? How far should I go for you? And on which main road exactly should I leave the coffee? You should have made a reasonable request because people or cars passing by might knock over the coffee." A added, "Even though I said I was busy and couldn't, you said, 'I came a lot last year. You would recognize me if you saw my face. Just leave it on the main road.' Why ask if you knew it was impossible?" and said, "9 a.m. is the busiest time, so I absolutely cannot go outside. Would you like me to show you the orders that came in?"
A asked Incident Commander, "Self-employed people get hurt by thoughtless words," and requested, "I hope people don't make such unreasonable demands." Netizens who read the story responded with comments like, "It's creepy that he said he couldn't get off the taxi but came to the store to write a review," "It really has become a tough world to run a business," "Put yourself in their shoes and see if you understand," and "Ordering a coffee worth a few thousand won and acting like a boss."
