iM Bank (formerly Daegu Bank, President Hwang Byungwoo) announced on the 27th that it held the opening ceremony for Unicorn Lab (U-Lab) Daegu at the iM Bank 2nd Headquarters in Chilseong-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu.
This opening ceremony, organized in collaboration with the Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (Director Han In-guk), was held in line with the launch of an incubation system to support deep tech startups.
Unicorn Lab, established on the 5th floor of the iM Bank 2nd Headquarters, covers a facility area of 2,264.71 square meters (exclusive area: 907.75 square meters, common area: 1,356.96 square meters) and is equipped with 16 private offices, a shared office with 20 seats, meeting rooms, lounges, and more.
iM Bank and the Daegu Center have been collaborating since February this year to discover and nurture companies with the goal of establishing a digital innovation hub based on ABB and Fintech, and for this purpose, companies have moved into U-Lab.
The evaluation of tenant companies, which began in January this year, drew high interest as a regional startup incubation space, with the highest competition rate reaching 3:1. After a rigorous screening process, 26 startups are currently residing in the newly opened U-Lab office.
iM Bank evaluates and manages companies based on strict criteria to attract outstanding companies. Tenant companies receive close support through the professional accelerating program operated by the Daegu Center, and will be provided with scale-up opportunities through participation in various linkage programs, including fintech technology collaboration with iM Bank and other DGB Financial Group affiliates.
President Hwang Byungwoo stated, "As the name Unicorn Lab Daegu suggests, I hope many 'unicorn companies' will be born in this space," and added, "To help the creativity and spirit of challenge of the companies residing in Unicorn Lab Daegu pioneer new markets and invigorate the local economy, the Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, iM Bank, and DGB Financial Group will work together."
