On the 27th, Lee Seong-jun, spokesperson for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned during the Ministry of National Defense's regular press briefing in response to a question about the possibility of resuming loudspeaker broadcasts toward the North, saying, "If North Korea continues to send trash balloons containing paper, we will have no choice but to resume loudspeaker broadcasts."

He also explained, "We are not conducting loudspeaker broadcasts toward the North today," adding, "North Korea has been continuously sending trash balloons containing paper to the South, but we have suspended loudspeaker broadcasts to give North Korea a period of self-restraint."

The military had responded by operating some fixed loudspeakers in the border area on the 9th, when North Korea's filth balloon launches were ongoing, but has not operated them since. North Korea reportedly released about 180 filth balloons toward the South on the 26th, with around 70 of them falling in northern Gyeonggi Province and Seoul.
