Lost Owner While Playing Outdoors in 2022
Found 1000 Miles Away
A dog that lost its owner two years ago has safely returned home, touching many hearts. It is known that the dog traveled an astonishing distance of 1000 miles (approximately 1609 km) during this time.
On the 23rd (local time), Miami 7 News and other local media reported the story of 'Luna,' a pet dog who returned to her owner after two years. Luna is the pet of Mr. Duncan, a resident of Florida, USA, and she lost her owner in 2022 while chasing a wild animal.
At that time, Mr. Duncan had let Luna loose in the grass near their home. Luna had previously spent time playing in this area. However, that day was different. Interested in a wild animal, Luna became so focused on chasing it that she wandered too far from home. Since then, Mr. Duncan had not seen Luna for two years.
However, on the 12th, Mr. Duncan received a call from a local animal shelter. He recalled the emotional moment, saying, "After two years, I received news that Luna was found. I had been holding onto hope here all this time. Finally, that day has come."
According to the animal shelter, Luna was found in the parking lot of a large department store. The location where she was found was 1000 miles away from home, meaning Luna had traveled over 1600 km in the past two years. Upon learning where Luna was located, Mr. Duncan immediately cleared his schedule, rented a car, and traveled to the shelter where Luna was being cared for, successfully reuniting with her.
The animal shelter stated, "We are happy that the owner could reunite with their pet," but also emphasized, "To avoid losing pets, it is important to implant a location-tracking microchip in advance."
