Mirae Asset Management's 'TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor ETF Series' Surpasses 30 Trillion KRW in Net Assets

Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on the 27th that the total net assets of the ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor Nasdaq Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF)’ series have surpassed 3 trillion KRW.


According to the Korea Exchange, as of the closing price on the 26th, the net assets of the ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor Nasdaq ETF’ stand at 2.8233 trillion KRW. This is the largest scale among the 35 semiconductor investment ETFs listed domestically. The leveraged type, ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor Leverage (Synthetic) ETF,’ also ranked first among overseas leveraged investment ETFs with net assets of 265.3 billion KRW.


The US ‘Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (PHLX Semiconductor Sector Index)’ represents the global semiconductor and advanced industries based on its long history and symbolism. It is an index that invests across the global semiconductor value chain, including Nvidia, AMD, Broadcom, Qualcomm, TSMC, ASML, and others. It has recorded excellent returns driven by the growth of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry. The ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor Leverage (Synthetic) ETF’ posted an annual return of 173.8% in 2023, ranking first among all ETFs listed domestically. It continues its upward trend this year as well.


Amid the rising trend of the US Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, the ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor Nasdaq ETF’ series is receiving strong interest from individual investors. As of the 26th, the ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor ETF’ recorded a cumulative net purchase of 167.6 billion KRW by individuals since the beginning of the year. Since its listing in April 2021, the cumulative net purchase by individuals has reached 948 billion KRW.


Ji-yeon Kim, Senior Manager of the Global ETF Management Division at Mirae Asset Global Investments, said, “Despite the high volatility characteristic of leveraged products, the ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor Leverage (Synthetic) ETF’ is also regarded as a long-term investment tool due to its excellent past performance and growth potential. By utilizing the Philadelphia Semiconductor portfolio, which allows diversified investment across the global semiconductor value chain without concentration in specific stocks, investors can expect to benefit from the long-term growth of the global semiconductor industry driven by the growth of the AI industry.”


Meanwhile, to celebrate the ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor ETF series’ surpassing 3 trillion KRW in net assets, Mirae Asset Global Investments will hold a customer event. From July 10 to 23, customers who certify ownership of the ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor Nasdaq ETF’ or the ‘TIGER US Philadelphia Semiconductor Leverage (Synthetic) ETF’ will be entered into a draw to receive gifticons.
