Ulsan Middle School Student Assaulted by Classmate on Retreat
"Often Bullied... Father Will Handle It"
Perpetrator's Side: "Not True, Wants to Apologize"
A middle school student in Ulsan was reported to have assaulted a classmate by slapping him multiple times, and it has been identified that the perpetrator's father is a supervisor at the Office of Education. On the 26th, JTBC's 'Case Manager' aired footage from last month on the 29th, showing student A slapping a classmate at a rest area while on a school retreat in Nam-gu, Ulsan. It was reported that A became enraged and assaulted the victim after the victim responded to a message from A saying "You are a worthless XX who can't do anything when we meet" with "Pay back the money." The victim is currently receiving psychological treatment following the incident.
During the broadcast, the victim's mother claimed that A's violence was not a first-time occurrence. She stated, "A frequently took money not only from my son but also from other students. Since the first grade, he has bullied and hit many school friends," adding, "After hitting others, A would provoke mutual fights to prevent the school violence committee from convening. He often said, 'My father works at the Office of Education. My father will handle everything for me.'"
She also claimed, "Besides this incident, whenever A caused problems, his parents called the school dozens of times, and I understand that A's father handled the matters."
Regarding these claims, A's father, Mr. B, stated, "Just because I am a supervisor doesn't mean my son receives any special treatment," and denied that he blocked consequences whenever his son caused trouble. He said he had contacted the school but never disclosed his or his teacher wife's occupation to the school. Mr. B added, "It is not true that my son habitually used violence. To my knowledge, this is the first time. If my son admits wrongdoing and must be punished, he will accept it. However, I hope there will be an opportunity for an apology."
Previously, A's side reportedly claimed mutual assault and filed a school violence report against the victim but recently withdrew it. The school stated, "The incident is being handled according to the school violence response manual."
