Kim Hee-young, Chairperson of T&C Foundation, Holds First Media Interview
"Hopes Personal Matters Do Not Damage the Exhibition"
Kim Hee-young, chairperson of the T&C Foundation and partner of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, recently stated in her first media interview that "now is not the time," but that a time will come when she can share the stories people are curious about. On the 26th, Kim said in an interview with Women Chosun conducted last April that she is well aware of the misunderstandings and critical views directed at her.
In this interview, Kim introduced the third special exhibition at the Podo Museum, titled "Perhaps Beautiful Days," which focuses on aging. The exhibition includes personal stories of Kim, such as her daughter, born in 2010 with Chairman Chey, recording the children's docent guide herself. Kim said, "During summer vacation, I will go to Berlin with the foundation's scholarship students. The theme is the same as the exhibition," adding, "I want to tell stories that help people hate less and feel less anger through various means."
Women Chosun explained the timing of the interview's publication by stating, "At the time of the interview, the second trial's final hearing of Chairman Chey's divorce lawsuit was imminent, and it was uncertain what impact Kim's words might have," clarifying that the interview was published after the appellate court's ruling. According to the Women Chosun article, Kim repeatedly expressed feeling "nervous" and "cautious" during the interview and requested that her personal story never damage the exhibition.
Furthermore, Women Chosun reported, "Even after the divorce appeal ruling, Kim continues to hold her position as chairperson without change," and "The overseas schedule with the foundation's scholarship students is proceeding smoothly, and she is faithfully carrying out her usual duties related to the museum." The article appeared in the recently published July issue of Women Chosun.
Earlier, in April, Kim made a public appearance through the Podo Museum exhibition "Perhaps Beautiful Days," which she planned herself. The exhibition, the third in the "Empathy Series," featured profound works by ten artists addressing cognitive impairment (dementia), and Kim personally explained the artworks to the press.
Meanwhile, the Family Division 2 of the Seoul High Court (Chief Judge Kim Si-chul), which handled the appeal trial of Chairman Chey Tae-won and Noh So-young, director of Art Center Nabi, ruled on the 30th of last month that Chairman Chey must pay Noh 1.3808 trillion won in property division and 2 billion won in alimony. Chairman Chey filed an appeal on the 20th, stating he cannot accept the ruling. On August 22, the first trial ruling is scheduled for the alimony lawsuit worth around 3 billion won filed by Noh against Kim.
