Battery Poster Awards: 72 Master's and PhD Students Compete
The Korea Battery Industry Association held the '2024 Battery Professionals Competition' on the 26th at KINTEX in Ilsan, in conjunction with the Spring Academic Conference of the Korean Electrochemical Society.
At the competition, 72 master's and doctoral students majoring in batteries from 10 universities, including Sungkyunkwan University, participated and presented their research results in poster format.
The Battery Professionals Competition is an event that rewards master's and doctoral professionals supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Industrial Innovation Talent Growth Support Project, which aims to nurture battery experts. It is characterized by the participation of 10 universities and over 70 consortium companies, collaborating on curriculum development, conducting industry-academia projects related to corporate technical challenges, and linking the recruitment of specialized personnel.
This year's competition saw a 24% increase from last year, with 72 master's and doctoral students participating, showing high interest. Through judging, four individuals?Kim Joo-eun from Gyeongsang National University, Park Jong-jin from Sungkyunkwan University, Woo Ji-soo from Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, and Cho Eun-san from Chonnam National University?were selected for the Battery Poster Awards.
The event was evaluated as highly effective in promoting the exchange of achievements among battery professionals. A student who participated in the competition said, "The Battery Professionals Competition contributed to enhancing the success potential of related research through feedback on research results between master's and doctoral students participating in the competition and those attending the Korean Electrochemical Society's academic conference."
A representative of the Korea Battery Industry Association stated, "We expect that this competition will activate exchanges among battery professionals and lead to excellent research outcomes," adding, "Through the successful operation of the Battery Academy, launching in July this year, we will nurture the workforce needed on-site in the battery industry and play a pioneering role in resolving the manpower shortage in the battery industry."
