Collaboration with KB Kookmin Card
Utilizing Low-Power Bluetooth Technology 'SmartThings Find'
Smartphone Location Check Possible via Credit Card
Samsung Electronics announced on the 27th that it has launched an Internet of Things (IoT) credit card in collaboration with KB Kookmin Card.
The Samsung Electronics IoT credit card is based on 'SmartThings Find,' which utilizes low-power Bluetooth (BLE) technology. SmartThings Find is a specialized service that allows users to locate various Samsung devices such as Galaxy smartphones, tablets, wearables, and tags.
Through this, the Samsung Electronics IoT credit card enables users to check the domestic and international location of their credit card if they have lost the wallet containing the card or forgotten where the card was stored. It also allows users to check the last place where the Galaxy smartphone and BLE communication connection was disconnected or view location records from the past seven days.

The IoT credit card can also be used to find a smartphone. By setting the 'Find and Notify' feature in the SmartThings Find service, pressing the button at the bottom of the IoT credit card will ring the smartphone. Additionally, if the distance between the IoT credit card and the connected Galaxy smartphone increases, the app sends a push notification, and users can check the card’s location via voice commands through Bixby.
The IoT credit card can be charged using a smartphone wireless charger and can be used for about 30 days on a single full charge.
The IoT credit card, launched for the first time in Korea by Samsung Electronics and KB Kookmin Card, is the American Express (Amex) branded 'KB Kookmin Skypass IoT Titanium Card,' limited to the first 1,000 issued.
Park Chan-woo, Vice President of Samsung Electronics, said, "We will expand the application of the SmartThings Find platform to partner products that require location tracking, such as the IoT credit card," adding, "Through continuous partnerships, we will expand the ecosystem of SmartThings Find application technology to enhance meaningful connected experiences and benefits for customers."
