Ansan Daebubuk-dong 'Sangdong Iyagwan' to be completed in July

The ‘Sangdong Story Center,’ a key facility of the Daebubuk-dong urban regeneration project in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, will be completed in July.

The Ansan Daebubuk-dong urban regeneration project, selected in the 2019 Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport public contest, is promoting various initiatives including the Sangdong Eoullim Center, Sarangnanum Park, Sangdong Story Center, creation of safe streets, and customized home repairs.

The Sangdong Story Center is a project to remodel the building left behind after the Daebu Health Clinic moved to the Sangdong Eoullim Center, creating a living culture hub. It will be established at 467 Daebubuk-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan City, with two above-ground floors and a total floor area of 490㎡.

The Sangdong Story Center will serve as a space to record and exhibit the old memories of Sangdong, and will also be used as a settlement support center for local multicultural families and returning farmers/villagers, as well as a shared learning space for residents.

Kim Tae-su, Director of Urban Regeneration at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Although Daebudo is a representative tourist destination in Gyeonggi Province, the residential environment of Daebubuk-dong is deteriorating. We are striving to revitalize the area and improve the living environment through urban regeneration projects such as the establishment of key facilities."
