'Junggi Majungmul' Gyeonggi G-Fund Formation Amount Surpasses 1.2 Trillion Won Status of G-Fund Formation in Gyeonggi Province

Gyeonggi Province's ‘G-Fund,’ which is being promoted to foster investment in small and venture businesses within the province, has surpassed 1.2 trillion KRW in fund size.

The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency announced on the 27th that the G-Fund size has expanded to 1.2066 trillion KRW by adding 418.8 billion KRW this year for funds in startups, carbon neutrality, and future growth sectors, in addition to 788 billion KRW raised at the end of last year. This figure exceeds the original target by about two years and surpasses the operating amount by 200 billion KRW.

Earlier, Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province pledged at the ‘Gyeonggi-do G-Fund Vision Declaration Ceremony’ in February last year, "We will raise a fund of 1 trillion KRW by 2026."

The G-Fund will serve as venture capital to support small and venture businesses aligned with the provincial government’s direction and will support mid- to long-term investments in future and foundational industries based on stable financial resources.

Regarding fund operation status, ▲ 10 funds including startups, carbon neutrality, and re-challenge sectors total 519.7 billion KRW ▲ 8 funds in future growth sectors such as materials, parts, equipment (SoBuJang), AI, and bio total 504.6 billion KRW ▲ 5 funds including northern regional balance and digital transformation total 182.5 billion KRW.

Kim Kwang-deok, Director of Regional Finance at Gyeonggi Province, emphasized, "We will continue efforts to activate on-site regional investment consultation meetings to discover excellent companies in need of financial support," adding, "If there is anything the province can do to resolve difficulties on the ground, discover companies, and follow up with investments, we will actively step forward."

Meanwhile, to commemorate the G-Fund reaching 1 trillion KRW, Gyeonggi Province held ‘G-Invest Day’ on the 27th at the Pangyo Startup Campus, where a roundtable discussion was conducted with G-Fund operators to discuss future strategies.
