Creation of Ecological Pond Centered on Hydrangea-Themed Flower Garden... Completion of 'Choansan Hydrangea Hill'
Added Attractions Including Picnic Area, Barefoot Walking Trail, and Forest Playground at the Top of Hydrangea Hill
Special Events Such as Hydrangea Exhibitions, Wedding Photoshoots, and Concerts Included
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold various cultural events, including a hydrangea exhibition, to celebrate the completion of 'Choansan Hydrangea Hill,' which has gained popularity as a hydrangea attraction.
Opened at the end of April this year, 'Choansan Hydrangea Hill' was once a place difficult for residents to use due to garbage dumping and illegal farming. After a year of construction aimed at providing a resting space for residents and addressing the imbalance in green welfare within the area, it has been transformed into a 'healing spot.'
Choansan Hydrangea Hill features a beautiful landscape centered around a flower garden themed on hydrangeas. Considering the blooming periods of different hydrangea species, about 11,000 plants of 19 varieties such as Mok hydrangea, Annabelle, and Summer Series were planted. A 240㎡ natural stream, waterfall, and ecological pond at the center enhance the feeling of a natural garden.
Recently, the upper idle space of the hydrangea hill, where a colony of wild cherry trees grows, was developed into a 'forest healing picnic area,' with appropriately placed pavilions providing resting spots. Around it, a barefoot walking path, which is becoming a health trend, exercise spaces, and a forest playground were added to increase recreational options.
Furthermore, the district plans to enrich the natural environment of Choansan Hydrangea Hill with culture and art to offer residents rest and enjoyment.
The first cultural event to experience is the 'Hydrangea Exhibition,' filled with colorful hydrangeas. Held from June 29 to July 26, this exhibition will provide abundant sights by adding vibrant horticultural hydrangea pots mainly around the waterfall and pond. Additionally, special photo zones will be installed along the walking paths so visitors can create precious memories.
A special event called 'Hydrangea Hill Wedding Photoshoot,' reminiscent of a romantic outdoor wedding venue, will also be held. This is intended to gift memories to residents who have been unable to take wedding photos for various reasons. The district plans to recruit 10 couples in need of wedding photoshoots through the Nowon Education Welfare Foundation.
Anyone with at least one member of the couple being a Nowon-gu resident can apply for the wedding photoshoot. Stories will be accepted through online applications until July 3, and final selections will be made by a review committee. Wedding attire rental, wedding hair and makeup services will be provided, along with free photo shooting and one framed photo.
In addition, the district plans to offer richer cultural enjoyment opportunities to residents weary from daily life by holding various cultural and artistic performances, including small-scale concerts, utilizing the upper healing picnic area of Hydrangea Hill equipped with resting pavilions.
Meanwhile, the district planted additional red spider lilies in a vacant lot within Hydrangea Hill in June. Starting from October next year, after the hydrangeas have faded, visitors will be able to enjoy an autumn flower trip with the red carpet-like red spider lilies.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “With the creation of Hydrangea Hill at Choansan following Bulamsan, Suraksan, and Yeongchuksan, healing towns by region have been completed. We will continue to strive to enrich residents' lives based on various attractive spaces and materials in Nowon-gu.”
