Discount on Related Products Until the 3rd of Next Month
Lotte Mart announced on the 27th that it will offer 'leafy vegetables' such as lettuce and perilla leaves, harvested early in the morning, at reasonable prices for seven days until the 3rd of next month. The representative products are 'Local Perilla Leaves (40 pieces)' and 'Local Lettuce (150g)', sold at 1,590 KRW and 1,990 KRW respectively.
These leafy vegetables are harvested between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m., when sunlight exposure is minimal. Compared to the usual harvesting time in the morning (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), they are picked at relatively lower temperatures to minimize wilting of the products. Currently, about 10 items are being sold at 46 stores nationwide, including the Uiwang branch.
The leafy vegetables harvested early in the morning are packaged on-site by 10 a.m. and directly delivered to stores before 1 p.m. Lotte Mart has greatly reduced the distribution process through direct delivery to maximize product freshness. Additionally, after arriving at the stores, the leafy vegetables are immediately displayed in refrigerated showcases (open refrigerators) to minimize exposure to room temperature. Currently, leafy vegetable farms are distributed nationwide in areas close to stores such as Yongin in Gyeonggi, Gimhae in Gyeongnam, Naju in Jeonnam, and Hongseong in Chungnam.
Lee Jae-ryun, Local Product Planner (MD) of the Vegetable Team at Lotte Mart & Super, said, "As the sultry weather exceeding 30°C continues day after day, maintaining the freshness of leafy vegetables like lettuce and perilla leaves, which consumers frequently purchase, has become increasingly important. By shifting the harvesting time from daytime to early morning, we have maximized freshness by preserving the moisture in the leaves as much as possible. We hope customers can purchase leafy vegetables at Lotte Mart without any worries."
