Hannam University Launches Entrepreneur Mentor Group and Investment Club Supporting Prospective Startups

Activation of Exchange Between Founders and Companies

Hannam University has launched 'Hannam Startup Mentor 100' and 'Hannam Angel Investment Club' for prospective entrepreneurs.

At 4 p.m. on the 25th, the launch ceremony was held in the medium conference room of the 56th Anniversary Hall at Hannam University. As part of the '2024 Startup-Centered University Project,' the event established a mentoring group for knowledge sharing, case sharing, and investment support for prospective entrepreneurs.

Through the launch of Hannam Startup Mentor 100 and Hannam Angel Investment Club, Hannam University plans to build networking among local entrepreneurs and create a virtuous cycle where companies that succeeded in university-originated startups pass on their know-how to prospective entrepreneurs.

The event was attended by Seong Nok-yeong, head of the Daejeon Sejong Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, and Choi Chung-gyu, mayor of Daedeok District, who gave congratulatory speeches. Presentations were also given by companies nurtured by Hannam University, including Kang Pil-sang, CEO of Pilsang, Nam Tae-wook, CEO of Butterfly Impact, and Lee Ji-young, CEO of Mongsim. A network was also established to match Hannam startup mentors and mentees, enabling senior entrepreneurs who succeeded in startups at the university to serve as mentors for prospective entrepreneurs.

'Hannam Startup Mentor 100' consists of graduated companies, partner organizations, and experts nurtured and supported through Hannam University. Mentors were selected in nine fields: consulting, chemical engineering, textiles, information and communication, electrical and electronics, bio, medical, chemical textiles, mechanical materials, and education, forming a diverse mentor pool.

'Hannam Angel Investment Club (Chairman Yuk Sang-jo)' was formed by graduated companies supported by Hannam University through programs such as Startup Leading University, Early Startup Package, and Startup-Centered University to promote investment at Hannam University. It will strive to foster junior entrepreneurs and activate investment in the future.

On this day, Hannam graduate companies including Serechipi, Sereco, Milpang, Cell Icon Lab, WeNeedSoft, Bonesty, Time System, and Korea Nest donated goods worth a total of 120 million KRW to Daedeok District Office.

Soyo Han, CEO of Meta Bank and a faculty startup founder (professor of Media and Video at Hannam University), donated 8.11 million KRW to the Hannam Development Fund, requesting it be used for the development of university startups.

Yu Seung-yeon, head of the Hannam University Startup Support Group, said, “Through this launch ceremony, we have gained a strong support group for activating startups at Hannam University. We hope this will serve as a stepping stone for the success and development of entrepreneurs in the future.”
