The Water Quality Environment Preservation Meeting is a regional governance where watershed members collaborate to manage water quality in order to overcome the limitations of water quality management in reservoirs managed by the corporation. Recently, meetings were held targeting facilities with concerns about water pollution.
At this meeting, various stakeholders freely exchanged opinions on the purpose and operational direction of the Water Quality Environment Preservation Meeting, the Korea Rural Community Corporation’s promotion process for water quality management, the current water quality status of reservoirs, and the division of roles by institutions and organizations for improvement.
On this day, the Water Quality Environment Preservation Meeting members pledged to faithfully fulfill their roles to supply clean agricultural water through water pollution prevention activities.
In particular, environmental organizations and journalists suggested that related institutions such as the Korea Rural Community Corporation and Haenam County should unite to set clear goals and directions for regional environmental improvement and that practical activities are needed at this time.
Kim Taeheon, Branch Manager of the Korea Rural Community Corporation Haenam-Wando Branch, said, “Water pollution is increasing due to worsening climate change, making management difficult, but the corporation is striving for water quality management through water quality surveys, agricultural water management, and water quality improvement projects,” and added, “We will do our best to enable environmental preservation and supply of high-quality agricultural water through regional governance.”
