Busan Transportation Corporation Introduces First 'Safe Zone for Secondhand Transactions' in Urban Rail, Contributing to Crime Prevention

Pilot Installation of Safe Zones... Featuring Accessibility, Safety, and Convenience

Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) announced on the 26th that it is conducting a pilot operation of 'Safe Zones for Secondhand Transactions' and kiosks inside Jurye Station and Sasang Station to allow citizens to safely conduct secondhand transactions.

This is the first time that a safe transaction space for secondhand deals has been established within a subway station.

The Safe Zones, which operate year-round, are green rectangles measuring 81cm wide and 160cm long, located in the waiting areas of Jurye Station and Sasang Station alongside kiosks.

The Corporation, together with the Busan Autonomous Police Committee and Busan Sasang Police Station, agreed to install Safe Zones for secondhand transactions in subway stations, recognizing that 'subway stations' are a preferred location for such exchanges.

The Safe Zones for secondhand transactions were created to provide psychological security to users and deter criminal intent, considering the increasing number of fraud cases related to secondhand deals.

Located within subway stations, these zones offer high accessibility and are equipped with real-time recording CCTV to prevent criminal acts in advance. As they are in public spaces with heavy foot traffic, safety is ensured in case of emergencies.

The kiosks also provide information on safe secondhand transaction practices. Warnings are displayed, such as checking items on-site and being cautious of prices significantly lower than market value, to raise users' awareness.

The Corporation plans to gradually expand the Safe Zones for secondhand transactions within subway stations based on the results of the pilot operation.

Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, stated, "As crimes related to secondhand transactions increase, we have installed Safe Zones for secondhand deals in consultation with Busan police as a preventive measure," and added, "We will actively promote such citizen-oriented projects so that the subway becomes not just a means of transportation but a place where people can enjoy greater convenience in their daily lives."
