Eco Delta Smart City National Pilot City, Metropolitan Transportation Improvement, Second Eco Delta City, and Clean Water Supply Cooperation Projects to Be Promoted
On the afternoon of the 26th at 1:40 PM, the city of Busan and Korea Water Resources Corporation will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for "Establishing a Strategic Partnership" at the situation room of the Busan Eco Delta City Project Headquarters.
This agreement was prepared to proactively respond to the government's policy of revitalizing local regions and to strengthen communication and mutual cooperation between the two organizations, aiming for the successful development of Eco Delta City and a smart city.
Mayor Park Hyungjoon and Korea Water Resources Corporation President Yoon Seokdae are scheduled to attend the signing ceremony and sign the MOU.
The main content of the agreement is to establish a strategic partnership between the two organizations in various projects related to Busan Eco Delta City and the city's strategic policy initiatives.
The key points of the MOU include: ① Development of the Busan Eco Delta Smart City as a national pilot city ② Enhancement of metropolitan transportation convenience such as the Busan Eco Delta City Tram (Gangseo Line) ③ Development of the Second Busan Eco Delta City ④ Cooperation projects related to clean water supply in Busan ⑤ Revitalization of global ecological tourism in the Nakdong River estuary ⑥ Cooperation and support for Busan's strategic policy projects (Gadeokdo New Airport, Smart Healthcare Cluster, establishment of global tourism infrastructure, Maekdo Green City, national urban park, water industry development, securing industrial water supply for East Busan Industrial Complex, etc.).
Once the agreement is signed, the two organizations will form a working-level council to efficiently implement their cooperation areas and discuss various detailed measures.
They will discuss cooperation measures on: ▲Establishing the business entity (SPC) for Busan Eco Delta Smart City within this year and strengthening collaboration among investors ▲Converting the 6.6 km Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) section within Eco Delta City to a tram (Gangseo Line) ▲Preparing a response strategy to have the Second Eco Delta City development project (10.4 km²) selected as an exception project (regional strategic project) for lifting the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's greenbelt (GB) release quota ▲Diversifying water intake sources for clean water supply in Busan ▲Consulting on revitalizing ecological tourism in the Nakdong River estuary ▲Promoting Maekdo Green City as a waterfront development project, among others.
In particular, the city plans to closely consult with Korea Water Resources Corporation on measures such as creating relocation housing sites within Eco Delta City as a resettlement plan for the Gadeokdo New Airport project and supplying industrial water to the East Busan Industrial Complex.
Additionally, the city announced plans to introduce Korea Water Resources Corporation's world-class water management technology and advanced future city technologies to receive cooperation and support for supplying clean water to Busan citizens, as well as for the development of the smart city and smart healthcare cluster within Busan Eco Delta City.
Mayor Park Hyungjoon said, "Through this agreement, the rich experience and technology of Korea Water Resources Corporation in urban development, industry, tourism, and culture will create great synergy for the city of Busan," and added, "We will join forces with Korea Water Resources Corporation so that our strategic cooperation projects can yield meaningful results for 'Global Hub City Busan.'"
