Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced the publication of the youth statistics "Youth Population," an infographic based on youth status statistics and data analysis.

Starting this year, the district plans to regularly collect and analyze various statistics on local youth and produce easy-to-understand infographics for distribution.

According to the first produced "Youth Population" statistics, as of February, the youth population (ages 19-39) in Eunpyeong-gu is 131,481, ranking sixth among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul. The neighborhood with the highest youth population is Jingwan-dong, with 12,700 residents. The neighborhood with the highest youth ratio is Daejo-dong, where youth make up 36.5% of the total population.

Over the past five years, the number of incoming youth (103,433) exceeded outgoing youth (98,033) by 5.5%. Last year, the main reasons for moving into Eunpyeong-gu were housing (40.8%), family (25.8%), and employment (18.4%), in that order.

Among youth commuting during weekday morning hours, 88% commute outside the district. The top destinations are Mapo-gu (13.5%), Jung-gu (11.7%), Jongno (10.1%), and Gangnam-gu (10.0%). The average commute time for youth traveling to the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon) is 71 minutes, while those commuting within the district take 36 minutes on average.

The number of youth living in Eunpyeong-gu is analyzed as 101,298 during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 129,236 during nighttime hours from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day. The youth living population decreases during the day and increases at night.

Youth single-person households (32,704) account for 37.1% of all single-person households (88,163), the highest proportion by age group, followed by those aged 65 and older at 27.0%, and those aged 50-64 at 22.6%.

Detailed information about these statistics can be found on the Eunpyeong-gu Office website.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, "The statistical analysis results on youth can serve as fundamental data for effective, customized youth policies in Eunpyeong-gu," adding, "We plan to continue analyzing statistics on various themes and producing infographics to better understand the lives of youth."
