Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is launching a new Hope Project this year to support socially isolated and reclusive youth.
Named "Dobong-gu Youth, EX-i-t!", this Hope Project aims to identify socially isolated and reclusive youth and support their social participation and activities.
The district plans to awaken the interest (EXciting), identity (Identity), and talent (Talent) of socially isolated and reclusive youth through various activities with peer activists, helping them to advance into society.
First, based on the cooperative network established with community service centers and related local organizations, the district will identify socially isolated and reclusive youth and train peer activists who are interested in youth issues and willing to provide support.
Next, socially isolated and reclusive youth will be matched one-on-one with activists to help stabilize and restore their emotional well-being, followed by various social participation programs including outdoor experiences such as luge rides and hiking.
Additionally, regular education sessions and meetings will be held for families with socially isolated and reclusive youth, and campaigns will be promoted to improve social awareness about these youth.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "Through this project, we hope to form a healthy network where youth in the community care for and support each other," adding, "The district regards the issue of socially isolated and reclusive youth as an urgent matter to be resolved and will continue to prepare and implement support projects going forward."
