Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has opened the ‘Jungnangcheon Water Playground’ where visitors can enjoy refreshing water activities during the hot summer.
The Jungnangcheon Water Playground (485-7 Junggok-dong) is an urban oasis covering an area of 1,685㎡. All facilities are provided free of charge, and its excellent public transportation access attracts many family visitors.
This year, 30 water play facilities have been installed. Visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions such as water slides, lazy rivers, mist tunnels, and ground fountains. The shallow water depth makes the Jungnangcheon Water Playground especially popular among children.
Additionally, several auxiliary facilities have been provided to enhance user convenience. Showers, changing rooms, resting chairs, and drinking fountains are available. Mongolian tents have been installed to provide shade for comfortable rest during water play. Ice-cold bottled water can be taken anytime from refrigerators, and portable restrooms are equipped with air conditioning to offer coolness.
Measures to prevent safety accidents have also been put in place. Professionally trained safety personnel are stationed at all times to closely monitor the area. The playground can accommodate up to 500 people simultaneously, and entry will be restricted if this number is exceeded. For hygiene management, the water is replaced daily and water quality is tested every two hours.
The Jungnangcheon Water Playground operates from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until August 18. There is a lunch break from 12 p.m. for one hour, and a 15-minute rest period from 45 minutes past each hour. However, use is restricted on Mondays, the regular closed day, and during rainy weather.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “The Jungnangcheon Water Playground is an urban retreat where you can enjoy escaping the heat without going far. I hope families and friends create exciting memories and spend the hot summer coolly.”
In addition, Gwangjin-gu operates various outdoor water playgrounds. The Guui Park Water Playground will open on July 1, and from the 19th, three locations including Children’s Grand Park will introduce ‘mobile water playgrounds’ for the first time.
