Jibsarang Volunteer Group Carries Out 'House Repair of Love' for Old Homes in the Area
Yeongcheon City, North Gyeongsang Province, selects outstanding volunteer programs every year and provides funding to promote the spread of volunteer activities and strengthen the capabilities of volunteer organizations.
On the 22nd, the Jibsarang Volunteer Group visited homes of underprivileged groups to repair old houses and took commemorative photos.
The supported projects include: free meal services and cultural activities for low-income seniors (Hyosarang Volunteer Association), Love House Repair (Jipsarang Volunteer Group), delivery of nutritious meals and laundry services for elderly people living alone (Misimhwe), traveling busking performances (Chuntomato Arts Group), and the third edition of our traditional culture experience (I-Korea Volunteer Group), for a total of five selected projects.
On the 22nd, the Jipsarang Volunteer Group showcased their talents by repairing the bathroom, kitchen, and ceiling, and wallpapering the home of a grandmother living with her intellectually disabled grandchild in Wansan-dong to improve her living environment.
The Jipsarang Volunteer Group consists of about 40 members who are graduates of the Rural Life Experience School, a return-to-farming and rural resettlement education program operated by Yeongcheon City, and they carry out house repair volunteer activities in the area every quarter.
An official from Yeongcheon City stated, "We will strive to support new and diverse programs for the local community and underprivileged groups in the area so that a culture of active participation in volunteer work can be fostered."
