National Tax Service Launches Special Tax Investigation into Genesis BBQ Over Another Chicken Price Hike

Genesis BBQ Group, a domestic chicken franchise, is reportedly under tax investigation for allegations of tax evasion.

According to industry sources on the 25th, the Seoul Regional Tax Office Investigation Division 4 sent investigators to the Genesis BBQ headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, earlier this month to secure tax-related documents.

The Seoul Regional Tax Office Investigation Division 4 mainly handles irregular special tax investigations.

The industry expects this tax investigation to be related to the recent price increase policy.

On the 4th, BBQ raised the prices of major products such as Golden Olive Chicken and Golden Olive Chicken Combo by 3,000 won.

However, the National Tax Service has stated that it cannot confirm whether an individual tax investigation is underway in relation to this matter.
