The Daeyang Academy Foundation announced on the 25th that Professor Eom Jong-hwa of the Department of Physics and Astronomy has been appointed as the 15th president of Sejong University.

President Eom graduated from Daegu Neungin High School, earned a bachelor's and master's degree in physics from Seoul National University, and obtained a Ph.D. in physics from Northwestern University in the United States. He began his professorial career at Sejong University in 2001 and has held key positions such as Director of External Cooperation and Director of Academic Affairs. Currently, he serves as the Executive Vice President and has been a member of the Ministry of Education's LAMP project management committee since September 2023.
President Eom was the first in the world to develop a spin transistor, which was selected as one of the top 10 science and technology news stories in 2009, and has consistently conducted research, publishing two papers in Science.
President Eom will take office on July 27, 2024, with a term of three years.
