Soonchunhyang University Freshmen Conduct Major-Related Projects in the UK, Germany, and Sweden New students participating in Soonchunhyang University's 'Pre-GRP' are cheering before departing from Incheon Airport to European innovation cities.

Soonchunhyang University is launching the ‘GRP (Glocal Resident Program)’ in full swing during the vacation, presenting a new model for education and regional innovation.


GRP is a problem-solving overseas challenge program conducted in 10 global innovation cities related to the main specialized industries of the Chungnam region, MMC (Mobility, Medi-Bio, Carbon-Neutrality), including Boston and North Carolina in the USA, Munich and Aachen in Germany, London and Manchester in the UK, Stockholm and Malm? in Sweden, and Kyoto and Toyota City in Japan.


To fully operate GRP, Soonchunhyang University has been planning ‘Pre-GRP’ for freshmen since March. Freshmen have been preparing to independently set their career goals and carry out convergence projects by selecting major-related topics and experience cities in global innovation cities through minor activities.


From the 25th until July, the university will dispatch 24 minor teams, totaling over 350 students, to three European innovation cities?Manchester in the UK, Munich in Germany, and Malm? in Sweden?that are closely related to the region-university specialized fields of Mobility, Medi-Bio, and Carbon-Neutrality industries.


For 10 days, they will directly execute major-related projects on-site to enhance problem-solving skills, major expertise, and global competencies.

President Kim Seung-woo said, “Freshmen will realize self-directed minor projects in global innovation cities around the world based on the concretization of activity plans linked to regional industries and advanced industries.”
