Bloomberg "Apple Rejects Meta's AI Collaboration Proposal"

Recently, reports emerged that Apple is discussing AI-related collaboration with Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, but Bloomberg reported on the 24th (local time) that Apple rejected this proposal several months ago.

According to sources, the two companies discussed in March the possibility of utilizing Meta's AI chatbot Llama on the iPhone, but did not reach the stage of formal partnership agreement.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Apple discussed integrating Meta's AI into its own AI system, 'Apple Intelligence.'

The reason Apple decided not to collaborate with Meta appears to be security-related. Sources said Apple made this decision because it judged Meta's privacy practices to be insufficiently strict.

Apple has long criticized Meta for not adequately protecting personal information. Meta has faced several privacy issues, including the revelation that during the 2016 U.S. presidential election, a British political consulting firm collected data from 87 million Facebook users and used it for political advertising.

Sources said Apple continues to discuss the integration of AI chatbots with the AI startup Anthropic.

Additionally, Bloomberg forecasted that since Google is already Apple's Safari web browser search partner, future collaboration with Google's AI Gemini will likely be built upon this existing relationship.
