Industrial AI International Certification Forum General Assembly
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 25th at the 2nd General Assembly of the 'Industrial Artificial Intelligence International Certification Forum' held at EL Tower in Seocho-gu, Seoul, that Hyundai AutoEver received the first domestic artificial intelligence (AI) certificate. Hyundai AutoEver obtained conformity certification from the Korea Testing Laboratory for its smart vision surface defect detection technology applying AI technology.
The 'Industrial Artificial Intelligence International Certification Forum' was established in June 2023 to strengthen the export competitiveness of AI products and services. Since then, six accredited testing laboratories capable of determining conformity to six domestic AI international standards have been designated, and this is the first certification result.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy expects that issuing industrial AI certificates according to international standards will be possible domestically in the future, reducing the certification burden for companies when expanding overseas. At the general assembly, a signing ceremony for the 'Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation for the Industrial Artificial Intelligence Certification System' was also held, expanding participating organizations from 17 to 23. The participating organizations will mutually cooperate on AI conformity assessment technology development, workforce training, and designation of accredited institutions.
Oh Seung-cheol, Director of the Industrial Infrastructure Office at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, "The AI certificate issued today is expected to be the first step in creating a trustworthy and safe AI ecosystem," adding, "We will strengthen cooperation with overseas certification bodies so that companies can be certified abroad without additional tests by using only domestic certificates."
