Cheongdo County Awards 8.92 Million Won in Incentives to 599 Households Saving Over 5% Energy

Cheongdo County (Governor Kim Hasu) announced on the 25th that it will provide incentives totaling 8,923,000 won in the form of Cheongdo Love Gift Certificates or Green Card points by the end of June to 599 households that reduced their energy usage by more than 5% in the second half of 2023 among those participating in the Carbon Neutrality Point Program for the energy sector.

The Carbon Neutrality Point Program for the energy sector is one of three areas (energy, automobiles, green lifestyle practices) in the Carbon Neutrality Point System. It is a nationwide greenhouse gas reduction initiative that provides incentives twice a year (June and December) based on the reduction rate of electricity, water, and city gas usage in households compared to the previous two years.

In the second half of 2023, 2,373 households participated in the Carbon Neutrality Point Program, and 599 households successfully reduced their energy consumption (electricity by 272 MWh, water by 196 ㎥, and city gas by 443 ㎥), resulting in a reduction of 131 tCO2 of greenhouse gases.

Kim Hasu, Governor of Cheongdo County, said, "Practicing a carbon-neutral lifestyle may feel somewhat inconvenient, but I hope many residents will actively participate in the Carbon Neutrality Point Program so that we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and receive incentives in response to the climate crisis."
