On the 25th, News1 reported that around 11:30 a.m. the previous day (24th), a taxi fell into a sinkhole measuring 1 meter deep and 3 meters wide caused by a burst water pipe on a road in Ichung-dong, Pyeongtaek City.

Photos capturing the scene at the time of the accident show a taxi trapped in the sinkhole. The front part is deeply submerged while the rear part is lifted in the air. There were no casualties from the incident.

Pyeongtaek City is controlling the area near the accident site and is carrying out restoration work. A city official stated, "We received a report that 'water was gushing up' from the ground around the road at the accident site and were inspecting the scene when the accident occurred," adding, "We will make efforts to respond promptly."

Meanwhile, this is not the first time a sinkhole has occurred. On the 28th of last month, a sinkhole appeared on Seogwang-ro near Jeju City Hall, causing traffic congestion during the evening commute, and on the 16th of the same month, consecutive sinkholes occurred on Daesin-ro passing through Sangpyeong Industrial Complex in Jinju, Gyeongnam Province.
