Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, announced on the 25th that they conducted the 'Elegant Labor Solver' program for restaurant owners in the Gyeonggi region in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Small Business Association throughout May.

Elegant Labor Solver is a labor consulting program that Baemin started last year in partnership with the Small Business Association and the Korea Certified Labor Consultants Association to support small business owners. Certified labor consultants visit stores in person to provide one-on-one customized labor consultations. Last year, about 70 restaurant owners in Busan and Jinju, Gyeongnam, used the service. Additionally, to provide ongoing support after consultations, a casebook summarizing the most popular consultation topics from Baemin Restaurant Plaza’s expert Q&A is also provided.

This time, 89 restaurant owners from Gyeonggi region, including members of the Gyeonggi Small Business Association and Baemin-affiliated stores, received labor consultations. The process involved selecting labor-related topics through a pre-filled checklist, followed by detailed consultations during the labor consultant’s visit.

Restaurant owners who experienced the consulting showed high satisfaction. Joo Seong-ha, the owner of a cafe in Gunpo, Gyeonggi, said, "The contents that must be included in employment contracts change every year, and it’s easy to overlook them while running a business. Since the scope of the Serious Accident Punishment Act has expanded from this year, I applied because I was curious about the legal points to be aware of when hiring five or more employees."

Cho Byung-jin, the owner of a duck charcoal grill specialty restaurant in Uiwang, Gyeonggi, also said, "Since it is one-on-one customized, even elderly people can easily understand the explanations, so I recommend it to older self-employed individuals." There were also positive responses about being able to receive detailed consultations related to working hours and wages, such as weekly holiday pay and annual leave pay. Baemin stated that positive evaluations were made in the satisfaction survey conducted after the program.

Labor consultant Kwak Byung-soo, who conducted the consultations, explained, "Usually, people look for labor consultants after violating labor laws for follow-up management. This program guides them to recognize and comply in advance, so it seems to be a great help to self-employed business owners."

Baemin plans to expand the program in the second half of the year so that more restaurant owners can use Elegant Labor Solver without burden. To avoid restrictions on time and place, they plan to diversify consultations to include both in-person visits and phone consultations. Kim Jung-hyun, Head of Value Management at Woowa Brothers, said, "Even if business owners have labor concerns, their ways to resolve them were limited. We will expand and operate the program to provide practical help needed while running their stores."
