Busan Cinema Center to Host MJ Rhythm, Magic Gala Show, International Magic Competition, Magic Lecture, and Busking Championship from 28th to 30th
Opening Ceremony Returns After 5 Years... SBS New Variety Show 'The Magic Star' Featuring Yoo Ho-jin, Jang Haeseok, and Choi Ian
The city of Busan and the Busan International Magic Festival Organizing Committee will host the 'Magic Convention' from June 28 to 30 at the Busan Cinema Center, Busan Design Promotion Agency, and the Haeundae Gunam-ro area.
This event is part of the 19th Busan International Magic Festival.
A variety of programs are prepared, including: ▲ 'MJ Rhythm,' a show where magic and jazz come together for an even richer spectacle ▲ 'Magic Gala Show,' featuring dazzling performances by world-class magicians ▲ 'International Magic Competition,' a gateway for up-and-coming magicians ▲ 'Magic Lecture,' where professional magicians reveal their secrets ▲ hands-on side events to experience various types of magic ▲ and the '6th Busking Championship,' where street artists compete in skill.
This year's 'Magic Convention' will kick off with magician Lee Myungjun's 'MJ Rhythm,' a performance that blends magic and jazz for spontaneous interaction with the audience.
It is a one-man show filled with swing jazz, mime, and various other performing arts genres, all brought together in one rhythm. Audiences can look forward to Lee Myungjun's innovative magic acts and refreshed performances.
The 'Magic Gala Show' is a golden opportunity to witness the spectacular opening ceremony, held for the first time in five years, and enjoy mesmerizing performances by world-renowned magicians all in one place.
Rising Korean magician Yoo Ho Jin will serve as the host, and seven top magicians from Korea, Italy, France, China, and Japan are preparing breathtaking acts.
This year, anticipation is especially high with the participation of Yoo Ho Jin, Jang Haeseok, and Choi Ian, contestants from the new SBS variety show 'The Magic Star.'
The main program of the 'Magic Convention,' the ▲ 'International Magic Competition,' is a platform for rookie magicians from around the world to showcase and prove their skills.
This competition, which has produced world-famous magicians such as An Harim, Han Seolhee, Yoo Ho Jin, Park Junwoo, and Choi Yechan, is officially recognized by the International Federation of Magic Societies (FISM).
A total of 23 magicians from Korea, China, and Thailand have advanced to the finals. The judging panel, led by Italy's Domenico Dante (head judge) and composed of experts from each country, will apply the same strict rules as the World Magic Championships.
This competition is also the last opportunity to earn a spot at the FISM Asia Championship of Magic (FISM ACM) to be held this September, so fierce competition is expected.
The lecture program, ▲ 'Magic Lecture,' offers a rare chance to learn professional magicians' secrets in person. Not only magic enthusiasts but also the general public can witness amazing magic tricks that are difficult to learn from books or videos, gaining new inspiration and fresh ideas.
Master of card magic Katsuragawa Shimpei and magician Dogimun, known for his unique ideas, will each demonstrate their original techniques.
The side events are designed as hands-on programs that both magic enthusiasts and general visitors can enjoy. There will be dealer booths where visitors can see and purchase magic props, close-up magic demonstrations, various event zones, and more for everyone to enjoy.
Finally, from June 28 to 29, the 6th Busking Championship, known as the Olympics for street artists, will be held at Haeundae Gunam-ro and is free to attend.
The competition will be held in three categories: magic, juggling, and general performance. Champions in each category will be selected through citizen voting and on-site judging, with the top team in each field receiving a champion's award.
