"This Summer's Temperatures Higher Than Average, Service Requests Expected to Steadily Increase"
Essential to Self-Check Air Conditioners
As the highest temperature in June exceeded 37℃ and air conditioner usage increased, the number of air conditioner service requests has also rapidly risen.
Samsung Electronics Service announced on the 25th that air conditioner service requests in June surged by more than 50% compared to the previous month.
A company official explained, "Since the Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted in the 'Summer Climate Outlook' that this summer's temperatures are likely to be higher than average, air conditioner usage and service requests are expected to steadily increase."
They also revealed methods for self-checking air conditioners. Samsung Electronics Service stated that about 35% of air conditioner service requests in July and August last year were resolved through simple self-checks rather than product malfunctions.
First, the dust filter should be cleaned before using the air conditioner. The filter can be cleaned by dipping a soft brush in lukewarm water mixed with neutral detergent, rinsing thoroughly with water, and then drying it in the shade for more than 12 hours before use.
The area around the outdoor unit should also be kept clean. Warm air emitted from the outdoor unit during cooling must be released outside for optimal air conditioner performance. The ventilation window of the outdoor unit room must be kept open while the air conditioner is operating, and no items that could obstruct air circulation should be piled around the outdoor unit.
The air conditioner power cord connection and circuit breaker status should also be checked. Since many people unplug the air conditioner power cord or turn off the circuit breaker switch during winter when the air conditioner is not in use, it is necessary to check these before use. Circuit breakers in homes are generally located near shoe cabinets, kitchens, or entrances.
By using SmartThings, Samsung Electronics' integrated connection platform, artificial intelligence (AI) diagnoses the air conditioner's status and provides guidance on corrective actions. After selecting the air conditioner registered in SmartThings and running the 'AI Diagnosis' function, users can accurately check ▲indoor and outdoor intake temperatures ▲refrigerant levels ▲motor operation status, among others. Depending on the diagnosis results, items requiring further inspection are linked to ▲self-action guidance ▲contact center expert consultation ▲on-site service requests.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics Service has been conducting a pre-inspection campaign in March and April before summer to check air conditioners in advance, and has expanded service personnel by more than 30% by adding repair-capable staff such as technical instructors.
