Water hyacinth flowers have bloomed in a street water basin in Masanhoewon-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam.
Water hyacinth, which grows in rice paddies, ponds, aquariums, and water basins, gets its name because the middle of its stem swells like a fish's swim bladder and it blooms flowers resembling jade hairpins.
The violet flowers, which bloom mainly in the heat of summer, last only a single day before withering, and are therefore called "one-day flowers."
