Industry-Academia Cooperation with Steinbeis Korea Center in Germany
'Aiming to Create a Model Case for Global Technology Commercialization'
The industry-academic cooperation groups of Dong-A University and Dongseo University have signed a 'Business Agreement for the Activation of Global Technology Commercialization-Based Industry-Academic Cooperation' with the Steinbeis Korea Center (CEO Seo Juwon) from Germany.
Previously, Dong-A University held the '3rd Industry-Academic Cooperation Policy Forum' at Park Hyatt Busan Hotel in Haeundae, Busan, on the 18th, and has now signed this agreement, continuing its innovative efforts to establish a successful model for the 'Busan Open MEGA Consortium University Based on Integrated Industrial Complex'.
The signing ceremony, held on the 19th at the main conference room of Dong-A University, was attended by Kim Sungjae, Head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Group at Dong-A University, Lee Shinyoung, Deputy Head, Hwang Kihyun, Head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Group at Dongseo University, Kwon Kyungsoo, Deputy Head, and Seo Juwon, CEO of the Steinbeis Korea Center.
Steinbeis is a global technology commercialization institution headquartered in Germany with a history of over 40 years. It achieves annual sales of approximately 200 billion KRW, operates around 1,000 Steinbeis Centers, and runs the Steinbeis University Berlin.
This agreement was promoted to establish a foundation for 'global technology commercialization' through technological cooperation and academic exchange among Dong-A University, Dongseo University, and Steinbeis.
Through the agreement, the Dong-A University?Dongseo University consortium will propose a successful business model pursued by the 'profit-generating integrated industrial complex' for the Ministry of Education's '2024 Glocal University 30' main designation.
The three institutions will cooperate in building and interconnecting technology commercialization networks, supporting investment attraction, consulting, technology support, business exchange meetings, jointly promoting and linking government projects, and revitalizing the regional economy.
Kim Sungjae, Head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Group at Dong-A University, said, "Ahead of the final evaluation for the 2024 Glocal University 30 support project, Dong-A University and Dongseo University are accelerating efforts to establish a successful model for the 'Open MEGA Consortium University' based on the integrated industrial complex. It is meaningful to sign an agreement with Steinbeis as a research partner for global technology commercialization to overcome the limitations of industry-academic exchange remaining only within Korea. We will work closely together to achieve tangible results."
Seo Juwon, CEO of the Steinbeis Korea Center, emphasized, "The Korea Center has been conducting innovation strategy-based global technology commercialization personnel training, consulting to solve technical difficulties of SMEs, and international joint R&D partnering activities. Through this agreement with the Dong-A University?Dongseo University integrated industrial complex, we hope to promote innovation activities supporting promising companies in Busan and contribute to technology exchange among Germany, Korea, and Busan."
Hwang Kihyun, Head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Group at Dongseo University, said, "In the current environment where global expansion in the content field is difficult, we are pleased to collaborate in the digital content field and in creative and innovative design education through this agreement with Dong-A University and Steinbeis. We will strive to ensure that global exchange programs can provide practical support for the Glocal University project and the operation of the integrated industrial complex."
