Dongseo University and Daart Sign MOU for Collaborative Production of Original Musicals and Talent Development

Dongseo University (President Jang Jeguk) and Daat (CEO Jung Minkyoung) recently signed a 'Business Agreement for Collaborative Production of Original Musicals and Talent Development' at Dongseo University's Centum Campus.

Through this agreement, they plan to incubate Daat's representative work, the musical "Dad in Wonderland," foster talent to participate in the production, and jointly develop new musicals in the future.


This project, which will be produced mainly by the Department of Musical Entertainment at the Im Kwon Taek College of Film and Arts at Dongseo University, will bring together young artistic talents from Busan. The focus will be on incubating the musical "Dad in Wonderland," which was successfully staged in 2024. It is expected to help solve the current challenges faced by the musical industry in research and development by collaborating with the university, while also contributing to the development of local culture. In addition, the cast will be mainly composed of members from Dongseo Musical Entertainment, an in-school virtual company (IFS) at Dongseo University, creating local, community-based jobs for young aspiring artists.


With this agreement, Daat and Dongseo University have agreed to actively cooperate in ▲ joint development of musical and cultural content works ▲ joint training of musical production personnel ▲ mutual research and development of new programs.


In the future, the field campus will be utilized in connection with the Glocal University Project and the Regional Innovation-led University Support System (RISE) project, providing students with hands-on broadcasting experience and education.


The Department of Musical Entertainment at Dongseo University was selected for the Arts Council's Pre-Artist Field-Linked Support Project, established the in-school virtual company Dongseo Musical Entertainment, is leading the local culture in Busan, and is taking the lead in creating community-based jobs. On June 15, together with 46 students from Clark Memorial International High School in Japan, they performed at Sohyang Theater, actively engaging in international exchange as a group of young aspiring artists.


Hwang Kihyun, Head of the Dongseo University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, said, "Through this agreement, we will develop new musical content with Daat and create works that can be distributed nationwide, centered in Busan." Jung Minkyoung, CEO of Daat, shared, "This will be a great opportunity for continuous research and investment in musicals, which require ongoing R&D."
