Samsung and LG OLED TVs Both Score Up to 87 Points
"Equipped with AI, Praised for Excellent Picture and Sound Quality"
7 of 8 Awards Won by OLED TVs
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TVs made by our companies have proven their technological prowess by sweeping awards in the Best TV category announced this year by the leading U.S. consumer media outlet, Consumer Reports.
According to the industry on the 24th, Consumer Reports recently announced eight models of "Best TVs of the Year as Rated by Experts." The media conducted expert tests on high dynamic range (HDR), security and privacy, sound, color accuracy, contrast ratio, and more to comprehensively evaluate the best TVs of the year.
Samsung Electronics' 65-inch OLED TV (model name QN65S90D) received the highest score of 87 points in this announcement, ranking first. The media gave Samsung's OLED TV top marks in evaluation categories such as picture quality, HDR, viewing angle, and sound quality. It also praised the TV, stating, "It is equipped with a new artificial intelligence (AI) processor, provides excellent picture quality along with HDR, and the sound quality is also outstanding."
It further explained, "For gamers, it supports a 144Hz refresh rate at 4K resolution, as well as ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate)." Samsung's 65-inch OLED TV features an 'Auto AI Mode' that detects the game genre and automatically adjusts the screen accordingly.
In addition, Samsung Neo QLED TVs were also among the award winners.
LG Electronics also had four TV products selected as the best TVs of the year, including the OLED Evo (model name G4), which scored 87 points. Although OLED Evo received the highest score alongside Samsung's 65-inch OLED TV, it ranked second due to lower scores in detailed evaluations. The media described LG's OLED Evo as "one of the best TVs currently available for purchase."
LG Electronics enhanced the performance of its LG OLED TVs by applying artificial intelligence (AI) to improve picture and sound quality. The Alpha 11 processor applied to the LG OLED Evo (model names M4 and G4) series performs upscaling with AI deep learning performance four times better than before, finely enhancing pixels within each frame. The AI sound technology converts 2-channel audio sources into 11.1.2 channels, distinguishing voices from surrounding sounds for clear correction.
Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that seven out of the eight TVs selected by the media this time are OLED TVs. Regarding this, Consumer Reports stated, "OLED has the advantage of overwhelming color expression and an almost unlimited viewing angle."
According to market research firm Omdia, the sales share of OLED TVs in the North American market in the first quarter of this year was the highest among first quarters in the past five years. Omdia forecasts that the global OLED TV shipment volume this year will reach 6.29 million units, a 12.9% increase compared to the previous year.
