LG OLED Evo Scores Highest with 87 Points
Samsung OLED TV Also Makes the List
LG Electronics demonstrated its technological prowess by sweeping half of the awards in the Best TV category announced this year by the influential U.S. media outlet 'Consumer Reports.'
According to industry sources on the 24th, four LG OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV models were recently selected as the 'Expert Rated Best TVs of the Year' by Consumer Reports. The media selected eight best TVs this year, and four of them were LG OLED TVs.
Consumer Reports conducted expert tests on high dynamic range (HDR), security and privacy, sound quality, color accuracy, contrast ratio, and more to comprehensively evaluate the best TVs of the year. The LG OLED Evo (model name G4) received the highest score of 87 among the evaluated TVs. The media described it as "one of the best TVs currently available for purchase." It also praised the LG OLED TV for its best picture quality and excellent sound, supporting a 144Hz refresh rate and variable refresh rate (VRR) for gamers.
Along with the four LG OLED TV models, two Samsung OLED TVs, Samsung Neo QLED TVs, and Sony OLED TVs were also named among this year’s best TVs.
It is also noteworthy that seven out of the eight selected TVs are OLED TVs. Consumer Reports evaluated that "OLED has the advantage of overwhelming color expression and an almost unlimited viewing angle."
According to market research firm Omdia, the sales share of OLED TVs in the North American market in the first quarter of this year was the highest among first quarters in the past five years. Omdia forecasts that the global OLED TV shipment volume this year will reach 6.29 million units, a 12.9% increase compared to the previous year.
LG Electronics has further enhanced performance by applying artificial intelligence (AI) to LG OLED TVs to improve picture and sound quality. The Alpha 11 processor applied to the LG OLED Evo (model names M4 and G4) series performs detailed upscaling down to the pixel level within frames with AI deep learning performance four times better than before. The AI sound technology converts 2-channel audio sources into 11.1.2 channels, clearly correcting voices by distinguishing them from surrounding sounds.
