Fair Trade Commission Appoints Lawyer Oh Gyuseong as Non-Standing Commissioner

Fair Trade Commission Appoints Lawyer Oh Gyuseong as Non-Standing Commissioner

The Fair Trade Commission announced on the 24th that it will newly appoint lawyer Oh Gyuseong as a non-standing commissioner.

This appointment follows the expiration of the term of former non-standing commissioner Lee Jeonghee. Oh's term will run from today until June 24, 2027.

After passing the 42nd Judicial Examination, Commissioner Oh served as a presiding judge at Changwon District Court and worked as a judge for about 17 years. From 2020, he served for over two years as the Director of Adjudication Management, a position responsible for overseeing the Fair Trade Commission's plenary session deliberations and drafting resolutions. He is currently working as a lawyer at the law firm Good Plan.

During his tenure at the Fair Trade Commission, Commissioner Oh significantly increased the success rate of lawsuits against FTC dispositions, contributing to securing the reliability of the FTC's law enforcement. He also worked to balance the exercise of the defense rights of respondents and the protection of trade secrets of data submitters by introducing a limited data inspection system (Korean-style data room).

The Fair Trade Commission expressed expectations that Commissioner Oh, who has built expertise through long service as a judge, FTC director, and lawyer, will make significant contributions to the decisions of the quasi-judicial body, the FTC.
