On the 23rd (local time), at the TPC River Highlands (par 70, 6,835 yards) in Cromwell, Connecticut, USA, during the 4th round of the prestigious PGA Tour event Travelers Championship (total prize money $20 million), Kim played well, shooting 4 under par, but ended up tied with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (USA) at 22 under par 258. He then made a bogey on the first hole of the playoff at the 18th hole (par 4), settling for second place. He missed the chance to claim his 4th career win, his first in 8 months since winning the Shriners Children's Open last October. This is his best result of the year.
Scheffler forced the playoff with a flawless performance, making 5 birdies, and secured the come-from-behind victory by making par on the 18th hole. This marked his 6th win of the season and 12th career victory, just two weeks after winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the 9th. He is leading all categories including world ranking, wins, prize money, FedEx Cup points, and scoring average.
