Daycare Center Director and Accompanying Teacher to Be Investigated for Negligence
A 19-month-old girl on a field trip was fatally struck by a daycare bus.
According to the Sancheong Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 21st, around 10:40 a.m., a 19-month-old girl identified as A was crushed and killed by a daycare bus in the parking lot of the Sancheong County Health and Medical Center.
The police believe that the driver, B, in his 50s, did not notice A, who had gotten off the daycare bus and was sitting at the front right side of the bus, and started moving the bus, causing the accident. A was immediately taken to the hospital but ultimately passed away.
Meanwhile, it is known that the daycare had visited the health and medical center for a field trip that day. There were five supervising teachers, and 29 children visited the health and medical center.
The police will investigate the exact circumstances of the accident as well as whether the daycare director and supervising teachers were negligent.
