Green Consumption Week is operated throughout June by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute to activate eco-friendly consumption among consumers. The purpose of Green Consumption Week is to encourage consumers to practice environmental protection in their daily lives by purchasing green products.

Emart is conducting a ‘Green Shopping’ promotion during Green Consumption Week. Green Shopping is one of Emart’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities that encourages customers to shop eco-friendly. The main features include discounts on eco-friendly products and additional accumulation of Eco Money and Carbon Neutral points when using the Green Card.

Emart has prepared the ‘Jayeonjuui’ eco-friendly brand Green Shopping promotion. Until the 27th of this month, customers can receive a 30% discount on eco-friendly agricultural products when paying with the event card, supporting customers’ eco-friendly consumption.

Emart is offering Jayeonjuui eco-friendly sweet potatoes (1.8kg) at a discounted price of 6,986 KRW, down from the original 9,980 KRW. Additionally, eco-friendly tomatoes (900 g/pack) are available for 4,536 KRW, and Jayeonjuui organic yellow soil rice (10kg) can be purchased for 34,860 KRW.

Processed foods are also sold at 30% lower prices than usual. Jayeonjuui organic Sinan mudflat seaweed (4.5g*16 packs) is available for 6,986 KRW, and Jayeonjuui organic GABA brown rice meals (6 servings) can be purchased for 10,486 KRW. Furthermore, Jayeonjuui extra virgin olive oil is planned to be sold for 13,860 KRW. Jayeonjuui organic milk (900ml) is priced at 3,980 KRW, and Jayeonjuui organic Greek yogurt is sold for 5,980 KRW.

Emart is also running an Eco Money accumulation event through the Green Shopping promotion. Throughout June, customers can earn additional Eco Money points when purchasing eco-friendly products with the ‘Green Card.’

The Green Card is a card that provides Eco Money points every time eco-friendly consumption is practiced. When purchasing eco-friendly products linked to the Green Card using the Green Card, customers can accumulate up to 10,000 Eco Money points. For one payment per day, 500 points are given for one purchase, 5,000 points for four purchases, and 10,000 points for seven or more purchases. Additionally, when spending over 50,000 KRW cumulatively with the Green Card, only those who pre-registered for BC Green Card use via Paybook can receive an additional 10,000 Eco Money points once per person.

Eco Money points are earned whenever the Green Card is used to purchase eco-friendly products linked to the card or to use public transportation, practicing environmental protection in daily life. Points can be redeemed for cash-like use.

Emart also supports the accumulation of Carbon Neutral points in addition to Eco Money. When purchasing eco-friendly products worth 2,000 KRW or more with the Green Card, customers can accumulate 1,000 Carbon Neutral points. Additionally, issuing a mobile receipt allows for an extra 100 points per transaction.

Carbon Neutral points were established in 2021 to provide incentives based on performance when private companies engage in eco-friendly activities to encourage the public’s carbon neutrality efforts. Like Eco Money, these points can be redeemed for cash or credit card points. Emart has been supporting Carbon Neutral point accumulation since the system’s inception.

Furthermore, Emart is conducting the ‘Gaplejiu Campaign’ in collaboration with 3M until the 30th, collecting plastic from used and discarded 3M products. Gaplejiu stands for ‘Bring it, Protect Plastic, Protect Our Sea.’ It is the largest eco-friendly coalition in Korea, involving leading companies such as Emart, Gmarket, 3M, P&G, as well as NGOs and government agencies like the Resource Circulation Society Solidarity and the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation.

Lee Kyung-hee, Emart’s ESG manager, said, “We planned this event hoping that customers’ everyday consumption would lead to environmental protection,” adding, “Emart will continue to prepare various events supporting eco-friendly activities.”
