Gwangjin-gu Conducts Complete Survey of 562 Traditional Market Address Information Facilities...Providing Location Information

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is conducting a comprehensive survey of address information facilities in traditional markets to accurately convey location information in case of emergencies.

Recently, an incident occurred at a traditional market in Seoul where a delayed on-site response was caused by an error in the building number plate. In response, the district has started a thorough inspection to ensure that address information facilities are not obscured by signs or stored items, preventing any damage.

The targets are 15 traditional markets and building-type shopping centers located within the district. Among the 562 address information facilities installed at these stores, 499 building number plates and 63 street name plates will be inspected.

The main inspection items include checking for facility damage and loss. Visibility-affecting factors such as contamination, discoloration, and cracks will be carefully examined. Additionally, errors in directional signs and the appropriateness of character notation will be reviewed to ensure no inconvenience in address confirmation.

The survey will be completed within this month, and maintenance work will begin next month. Facilities that are old or severely damaged will be promptly replaced, and minor issues will be addressed immediately on-site. If building number plates are covered by stored items, the business owners will be consulted to relocate the items.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “We have initiated this comprehensive survey to enable quick location identification in emergencies such as fires or crimes,” and added, “We will thoroughly carry out this maintenance work so that many residents can safely use traditional markets.”
